Prostate Cancer; Sometimes Silent, Sometimes Deadly

I am Lee E. Fleming, a retired service member and survivor of Prostate Cancer. I am presently employed by the State of Georgia. I was recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. That was, without a doubt, the biggest shock of my life. I really think that on that Friday afternoon in January, 1999, I thought of death and dying. It was a very emotional few hours, after we received the news. Then I realized that I am not in this alone. I have a God and a wife that loves me dearly. My wife and I prayed for strength for ourselves and healing for my body.
In February, 1999, I underwent successful surgery (Radical Prostatectomy) to remove my Prostate Gland. My PSA (Prostate Antigen) Level was 4.8, which indicated my Prostate Gland had a very small amount of cancer. After surgery the gland was examined by the Pathologist, which is routine. The results of his examination indicated my Prostate Gland was practically consumed with cancer. My doctor indicated, it was a strong possibility, that the cancer had spread to other parts of my body. He further stated that if it had spread, then Radiation Treatment would be required. These were unexpected events and very painful to accept. I thought to myself, going through surgery was not enough. I have to take radiation treatment as well. God! what is going on. After the emotional stage passed my wife and I turned to God in prayer. We had to put our Trust and Faith in God to work. After surgery, my first PSA Test was 0.24. The second and subsequent PSA Tests have all been 0.0. God will and does answer prayers.I thank Him for His healing grace and I thank Him for a devoted and supportive wife. She took the difficulties and frustrations out of recovery.
I established this Web Page in hopes of passing on, to men, information about Prostate Cancer. My desire and prayer is that it will help men become aware of Prostate Cancer (IT CAN KILL). Annual screening tests are available and in some cases they are free, as they are at the three hospitals in my area.
"GOD IS GOOD, HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT". I AM A LIVING WITNESS THAT HE WILL ANSWER PRAYER. (MARK 11:24)
